Self Care and Internal Hemp-Derived CBD Benefits

Self Care and Internal Hemp-Derived CBD Benefits

It’s eternally difficult to make self-care a priority, especially when we all lead such busy lifestyles. As I sit down to write this post, I can’t help but laugh at an all-to familiar experience of going to a doctor and having them ask me “Are you stressed?”

It makes me laugh because of course I’m stressed. Is there anyone out there who isn’t? Unfortunately, we live in a world where stress and anxiety are not only very real, but very abundant. On the other hand, we are lucky to have so many outlets available to us that can help mitigate the effects of both stress and anxiety, just so long as you’re able to carve out a little time… ironic, I know!

Over the winter, I found myself in quite a COVID-19 funk. The usual lack of sunlight and high-stress nature of this time of year, compounded by anxiety about the pandemic, topped off with general quarantine fatigue and you can bet that I was feeling it by the first day of Spring. I took it as an opportunity to spend some time thinking about the daily rituals that I practice to reduce and relieve stress in my life. I thought that I would share them with you alongside the benefits of adding CBD to your routine.

While sometimes it feels impossible, I try to make time for at least one of these activities each day - and I always make sure to tell myself it’s also okay if I miss a day here and there.

Yoga. Many of your local yoga studios are most likely offering virtual classes and they might be beginning to reopen to in-person as well. I always recommend supporting your local yogis first as they need our support now more than ever! However, if that’s not an option for you currently, check out Namastream, Glo and Mindbody. Many of these sites offer free trials and various monthly memberships.

Meditation. My favorite app is Insight Timer. You can select any amount of time that you would like as well as a specific focus for your practice. I have also heard great things about Calm and Headspace. What I like most about meditation with these apps is that you don’t necessarily need all the bells and whistles (candles, crystals, soft ambient music, etc.). You just need a calm, quiet space for you to relax your mind.

Socializing. COVID-19 has obviously put a damper on things, but there are ways to socialize with our friends and family that don’t always mean Zoom or FaceTime.  If you are fortunate to live close by, plan a socially distanced picnic or outdoor activity like mountain biking, hiking or jogging to help give you a space to engage with friends and family that doesn’t put each other in harm’s way. If you live farther away, grab some cute stationary and write a letter or send a card just because. There is such a special feeling that comes from receiving a handwritten letter in the mail.

Nature Time. Spending just 20 minutes outside can have such a positive impact on your mental health. Go for a quick walk, jog or bike ride to let off some steam. Swap your car for your sneakers to run an errand. Even if you just make it out on your porch or stoop or front door frame for 15 minutes to breathe in some fresh air and feel some sun on your skin, it can work wonders.

Exercise. Even a ten minute ab routine on your living room floor can make the difference. There are so many free options on YouTube, as well as numerous free fitness apps. I love the gals at Tone It Up! Watch out - even their 7 minute workouts are intense!

Good Sleep. I always shoot for 6-8 hours in a very dark room. Mornings are important as well. Make sure your wake-up routine doesn't start with an hour on your phone in bed.

And of course, introducing CBD into your daily routine!

Your health and wellbeing are directly dependent on stress-relief and anxiety reduction, so let’s  make 2021 as stress-free as possible!  You with me?

I might not be a master of meditation, but I do know a thing or two about the benefits of CBD. Each day brings with it more research and discovery surrounding the positive impacts CBD can have on your mental health. Today, I want to focus on internal-use or ingestible hemp-derived CBD.

We just added Hemp Oil Drops to our product offering here at Verde. Adding these drops to your daily regimen may just be the kickstarter you need to achieve a more balanced self.  Keep in mind that balance is key, and there isn’t one simple cure to all or your troubles.  A combination of self-care routines is when we will really get to the sweet spot!

In a 2019 Gallup poll, 14% of Americans said that they used CBD products and of those, 20% said they used CBD for anxiety, and 5% said they used CBD for stress. When ingested, Hemp-Derived CBD has been shown to decrease the effects of stress and anxiety. Just a few drops are all you need to get on the road to a lighter you!

Our bodies have many different receptors that receive information and act accordingly. Our body’s CB1 and CB2 receptors are known to receive and react to CBD. While CB1 receptors are associated with the central nervous system, CB2 receptors function in the immune system, helping relieve inflammation and other aches and pains. To learn more about your body’s Endocannabinoid System and how CBD interact with receptors, check out these articles:

As with any supplement, it is advised to speak with your doctor before incorporating CBD into your daily routine and to decide on what the best dosage for you may be. Visit: https://dailycbd.com/en/cbd-dosage/ and use their dosage calculator to find your suggested dosage.
